Emergency loans to Students
Student loans up to the equivalent of €100 may be provided by the EAP staff in Madrid for emergencies and should be repaid within 30 days. All loans require that the student sign a promissory note in the EAP office.

HISPANIC STUDIES COURSES, MINICOURSES, REGULAR COURSES
The Carlos III CEH (Curso Estudios Hispánicos) consists of language study and course work in Spanish history, media, literature, economy, political science, geography, law, gender studies and the arts. Since there is no intensive language program prior to this program, the Program includes a course which reviews and applies advanced Spanish language skills. This course is taught at varying levels depending upon students’ performance on a language placement test. On January 19th students will take the Language Placement Test. Depending upon their performance on the test, students will be divided into four groups: Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate, Advanced, and Proficient. Both EAP and the home campuses require that students study full-time and make normal progress toward their degree while at Carlos III University. See requirements here.
In general, each class meets for three hours a week, and schedule conflicts may arise. Class attendance is absolutely mandatory and absences are not allowed. Carlos III offers short-term courses called "mini-cursos de Humanidades de Grado" for which politicians, artists, philosophers, scientists, professors, and writers are invited to the CIII campus to give lectures, seminars, or intensive courses that are worth 1, 2 or 3 UC quarter units. These courses tend to be monothematic and interdisciplinary and therefore offer a unique learning experience These mini-cursos run for a total of 10 to 20 hours and may be scheduled over a period of several months or condensed into one week. Students are encouraged to take one of these 1-unit, 2-unit or 3-units courses with Spanish students as a further opportunity for integration. They are scheduled irregularly throughout the semester, starting in September. In addition, some mini-courses may be impacted, and therefore not open to enrollment.

Culture and sports at Carlos III University (Fall 2011)
The University, through its Espacio Estudiantes office, offers a wide range of cultural activities on the three campuses: theatre, music, dance, workshops,etc
Also sport facilities in the three campuses include: 2 sports centres, 6 outdoor pitches, 4 tennis courts, 4 squash courts, 2 fitness centres, 2 saunas, beach volleyball, bouldering, multipurpose room, heated indoor swimming pool (only in Leganés), etc

We suggest that you take minicourses that are offered in the Getafe campus (it is more convenient since Hispanic Studies courses are taught in Getafe as well)

- 5 Hispanic Studies courses (4.5 UC units each; 22.5 UC total)

or
- A combination of Hispanic Studies courses and regular minicourses (21 UC units total). The language course is mandatory for all students, except for the ones placed in the highest level.
